Programs Just for Kids!


Group Skateboard Lessons-MAY-AUGUST

Get a month (4) of Monday lessons For $25 in our Skate Skool at the Kernersville Skate Park. Classes are from 6pm-7pm on Mondays with Nathaniel Branscombe.   We are taking registrations for now. 

Space is limited to only 6 students for each month, so don’t wait!

Call 996-3062 to find out more and you can use the registration form at the bottom of this page to get in on the fun.  The registration deadline is the day before the first Monday of the month that the classes begin.

April and May sold out and June is filling up quickly!


Children's Self Defense

Young Champions of America teaches the basics of Tai Kwan Do.  Belt levels are achieved as skill levels are acquired in this 15-week course.  Build self-esteem and confidence in this affordable program with 3rd-degree black belt, Scott Combs.   Ages 4-14 are eligible.

Cost:  $7 to register & $7 per class.

Location:  Recreation Building on South Park Dr.

Registration:  Monday, May 19th, 6-6:45 p.m. for new students; 6:45-7:30 p.m. for returning students.  All registrations must be taken by YCOA staff.  Registration will be taken at the first 3  classes as space allows.  

Class:  Mondays, June 2nd-August 19th,  times will be assigned at registration.   Uniforms are optional and available from the instructor.


Lacrosse Clinics

Join us at Civitan Park for one OR both of these FREE Lacrosse clinics.  Pick up tricks & tips from Kevin Bugg, Coach of the Kernersville Cannons.  Beginners and returning Cannon players are welcome.  Be a part of our upcoming league that will begin training in the fall and start competitive play in early 2009.  Clinics will run from 9-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19th and Saturday, August 23rd, 2008.


Hip Hop Dance Classes

Get immersed in this evolving culture of dance with Celia, hip-hop video performer.  This class is open to boys & girls between the ages of 7-14.
Cost: $60/14 weeks + to perform at the Honeybee Festival

Location:  Recreation Building on South Park Dr.
Registration: Call 996-3062 before June 6th.
Camp Dates/Times:  Saturdays from 10-11:00 a.m. from 6/14 through 9/13.


Summer Sports Camp

Enjoy different sports every day of the week with KPRD.  Kids between the ages of 6-12 will enjoy area parks and recreation with an emphasis on learning and fun!  Pack a bag lunch, water bottle, and snack daily.  Limited to the first 15 completed registrations!
Cost: $80 per child

Location:  Recreation Building on South Park Dr.
Registration: Call 996-3062 before July 16th.
Camp Dates/Times:  July 21st-25th.  Drop off between 7:30-8:00 a.m.

and pick up between 5-5:30 p.m.


Birdhouse Buddies

Now that the birds have returned for the spring, give them a summer home to move into.  Meet us in the park to paint birdhouses and create seed art for this fun children's craft program.
Cost: $15 per house
Deadline: Call 996-3062 before August 13th.
Classes: Thursday, August 14th from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: Harmon Park Shelter

Senior Travel Seminar

Bruce Frankel, the owner of the Mindful Traveler Travel Agency, gives tips on best vacations for seniors.  Discuss how to plan, what to be familiar with, & how NOT to be taken advantage of in your leisure years.

Cost:  FREE

Location:  Senior Enrichment Center, Room #4

Registration:  Call 996-3062 before June 10th.

Class:  Wednesday, June 11th from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.


Adult Self Defense

Get fit and protect yourself with our 3rd-degree black belt, Scott Combs.  Class is open to anyone 15 years or older.

Cost:  $10 to register and $10 per class

Location:  Recreation Building on South Park Dr.

Registration:  Wednesday, May 21st, 6-7:00 p.m. for new students and

7-7:45 p.m. for returning students.

Class:  Wednesdays, May 28th-August 26th, 6-7:00 p.m.


2008 Fall Adult Softball Leagues

Get into full swing at Beeson Park.  Join one of the largest adult leagues in the area.  We have many classes and skill levels to choose from.  Be sure to act quickly since space is limited in each class.  Our roster is based on a first-come, first-paid basis.  Until your team is either paid for or your sponsor has provided us with proof of sponsorship, you will not be added to the schedule.  For more information,

Cost: $400 per team for one-night a week leagues and $500 per team fortwo-night

a week leagues.  (fee includes NSA sanctioning and umpire fees)

2008 Summer Tennis Leagues

Paulette Dodson keeps it organized and competitive.  Sign up for this growing adult league and get six weeks of regular match play and one week of tournaments.  Trophies are awarded to the winners.
Cost: $20 per person
Location: Fourth of July Park Courts

Her Dates:  Mondays beginning June 16th

His Dates:  Tuesdays beginning June 10th

Learn proper dog park etiquette for you and your family so that you can keep your dog safe and happy in an off-leash environment.  This class helps you and adds to the community!

 Juggling Lessons
Mike Pacyga has brought the Triad Juggling Club to Kernersville.  He is at the Recreation Building the first Thursday of every month from
6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.  He will be on hand to teach you the basics of juggling and expose the citizens to juggling.  Bring something to juggle or you can buy something from Mike when you get here.

Cost:  FREE

Jazzercise

Get a healthy dose of cardio, strength, and stretching that leave you feeling energized and refreshed.   Jazzercise is a powerfully fun and effective workout that lifts your spirits while strengthening

your heart, muscles, and core.

Cost:  Monthly plans available, no contract necessary.

Location:  Senior Enrichment Center, in the basement of the Paddison Library.
