  Residential Recycling

We Make Recycling Easy! .

The Town of Kernersville currently offers residential recycling collection to single-family homes located within the Town limits. We do not offer service to apartment buildings.

If you are not eligible for residential recycling service, there is drop off recycling located on Lindsey Street and cardboard recycling is available at all Town fire stations. For further assistance, please call 336-996-6417.

How to Start Recycling

  • Call 996-6417 or email to request your bins.
  • An 18-gallon recycling container will be provided free of charge to all residents within town limits.  Residents may choose to lease a larger container for a nominal charge.
  • Your bin(s) will be delivered to your residence within one week after you sign up. The 18-gallon bins are 17 inches wide, 24 inches long, and 13 inches tall. They can be cross-stacked to save space. They do not have lids. While the bins remain the property of the Town of Kernersville, they are yours to use as long as you participate in the Kernersville Recycles program.
  • The larger containers hold 32-gallons of material, and are shaped to accomodate a garbage bag,  These containers are wheeled, for user convenience, and have lids to eliminate rain or excess moisture from entering the container, and to prevent little critters from poking around in your recyclables.
  • Once you receive your bin, add your recyclables. See our materials guide to see what items can be collected for recycling.
  • Place your bins out by 7 a.m. on your recycling collection day.  Starting on April 7, 2005 your recycling day will be the same as your trash collection day.
  • Place bins at least 4 feet from trash containers, vehicles and other obstacles
